She/her/hers

Rukhsanna Guidroz was born in England to Indian and Chinese parents, so juggling multiple cultures comes naturally to her. While London and Paris have been her homes, she decided to settle in the Hawaiian Islands after working as a journalist and news producer in Hong Kong.
These days, when she's not writing or teaching, you'll find her surfing with her husband and two sons.

  • If you could be a character in a children's book, who would you be?

If I could be a character in a children's book, I would like to be Matilda in Roald Dahl's Matilda. Who can resist her resilience, creativity, and knack for getting out of sticky situations?

  • Describe your creative space and routine.

My favorite space to write in is a cozy office in my house. The room is decorated with artifacts from different countries. To help me get in the mood to write, I often play soft or motivational music.

  • What is your favorite creative fuel?

Bananas smothered in almond butter help fuel my creativity, and I always have a mug of warm oak milk matcha by my side.
